Funny Persuasive Speech

Evaluate whether it's worth it to lie to your teacher. If you are already at school and simply forgot to do it, then you're probably out of luck here. But if you are at home the night before and just don't want to do your homework, think about your options. Teachers are generally forgiving of those students who forget their homework on rare occasions; they get mad at those ones who repeatedly forget. So, before you decide not to do your homework and to come up with an excuse instead, ask yourself whether it's worth it to waste your teacher's patience on this assignment. After all, there may come a time where you really need to use an excuse.Don't just take the easy way out now if it will cost you later. But once you have decided that you need an excuse†¦ 2 Spend time thinking about possible explanations that sound believable. In other words, these will need to be things which could realistically and likely occur with anyone (regardless of whether or not they are actually true) t hat the teacher, who gave you the assignment, is not likely to easily dismiss away in their mind as nonsense. A good way to start might be to ask yourself what kind of excuse would personally sound believable to you, or alternatively ask a trusted person you know for ideas. Some examples of what might work include: The good old â€Å"My dog ate my homework† excuse. If you don't have a dog, this one certainly won't work, but keep in mind that you can use a friend's dog, especially if you had a friend with her pet come over the last couple days. Better yet, take a piece of scratch paper or notebook paper, and tear it up into a few sizes of chunks ranging small to large. If you really want to trick them out, go to a joke store and buy a package of fake dog drool, only fifteen cents cost worthy. Rub the drool over the pieces of paper, leaving it a little wet but not too soaked. If you don't want to buy the fake drool just use water. Tell your teacher that you had an emergency at yo ur house at the time you would have normally finished the work, and that's the reason why – on this occasion – it's not been done. Saying you've had other homework assignments which clashed with the deadline date for this one, and that this got in the way (it's advisable to ask nicely for a deadline extension after). Saying that you accidentally lost the homework instructions, and haven't realised it until now. For essays, say that you can't get it printed because your printer is running out of ink or you left it in the printer. For online assignments, tell them that your computer crashed last night or your internet got cut off. For homework assignment that requires a book, tell them that you left the book at home or in your locker. 3 Think about how your teacher could find out that you are lying. If you go to a smaller school, make sure not to use the same excuse over and over again, because it is likely that other teachers already know that you have used an excuse. Al so, think about whether the teacher could possibly talk to anyone else who could reveal your lie.For example, if you use the â€Å"family emergency† excuse, think about whether the teacher is likely to call your parents to confirm your story. Adjust your excuse accordingly. 4 Prepare to not be believed. Your teacher has likely heard a thousand excuses before, so prepared when he or she questions your excuse. Come up with an interesting back-story that is detailed but not too crazy. If you get nervous and stumble over your words when your teacher questions you, then he or she is not likely to believe that you are telling the truth. 5Prepare to come up with even more excuses. If, for example, you say that your printer was broken and you could not print your assignment, your teacher will probably ask you why you didn't email it to a friend and have them print it out. In this case, be ready to make up another excuse, and maybe a few more after that. This applies to many of the ex amples listed above, such as forgetting your book or having your computer crash. 6 Be polite and pitiable. When you tell your teacher that you did not do your homework, be as polite and regretful as possible.Offer to have it in ASAP, and beg for forgiveness. Also, portray yourself as the victim of the situation. Shift blame to your dog, computer, etc. , as long as it is shifted away from you. It may be helpful in this situation to cry, if you can manage good fake tears. 7 Stick to your story. Your teacher might not believe you, but if you are convincing and committed, it will be hard for them to know for sure that you are lying. However, be prepared to work extra-hard for at least a couple of weeks to restore your teacher's trust.

Mediating Morality Essay

This case has lots of different goals by each person and different feelings about what needs to be done. Syl priority is to get the project completed while Daniel is more focused on his belief that he is being discriminated against. Robert also wants to get the project completed but does not want to work with Daniel the same way his was before he discovered Daniel is in a homo-sexual relationship. Syl did a good thing having separate conversations with both Daniel and Robert on a way to still complete the project but when she brought them together to discuss how they would precede it fell apart. I believe when things became heated she should have ended the meeting. Allowing the guys to argue back and forth created more tension in the situation. I also believe that she should have been more commanding of here statements and not allow Robert to spread his bias to other employees. Daniel is worried about Robert spreading rumors and dislike for him to other employees. This is especially true because Robert is bringing two other employees into the project to replace Daniel because of he doesn’t like Daniel’s lifestyle. I also agree with Syl about Daniel not having a discrimination lawsuit because this situation is not hurting Daniel’s work life unless they do not complete the project. He may become uncomfortable with certain co-workers because of them listening to Robert but his work position and being able to advance it will not be affected. Robert’s priority is to also complete the project but he does not want to complete it with Daniel. He believes moral standards should be upheld in the workplace and this is important. The only thing I have against this is that this company already has a benefits process in place for same sex spouses. Knowing the company has this if Robert does not believe in same sex marriage and does not want to be around it he should consider finding a new job. This is a hard case to digest and deal with but well placed mediation and goal setting can help the process. Robert should consider a new job or counseling to help deal with his dislike of same sex marriage. Daniel should not let this affect his priorities of completing the project.

Athens vs Han China Dbq

10/17/12 DBQ Athens vs Han China In the 5th century BCE Sparta and Athens constantly battled for 27 years for the number one spot in Greece. Despite being at war for such a long time, Athens made their culture most memorable in our world's history. Athens, located in Attica was rather small surprisingly, smaller then Rhode Island. Athens was known for it's talent; like we know today, Pericles, Plato, Socrates and more. While Athens Greece was prospering, China was suffering. During this period, Confucius lived and taught. His teachings had a rather big influence on Han China and China's Golden Age.Chinese achievements rivaled the achievements of the Athenians. In spite of Han China and Athens Greece, they were two major empires that both ruled around the same time frame. They had differences such as population, government, and religion/culture. One of the differences Athens and Han China shared were there forms of government. Document 4 shares the characteristic of government with do cuments 5, 6 &7. In â€Å"the oration of Pericles†(4) â€Å"Our form of government is called a democracy because it's administration is in the hands of the peoples† while â€Å"Mandate of Heaven† (6) In this document Mencius tells the story of Yao and Shun. The Mandate of Heaven is China's belief that emperors where chose by Heaven. In the document Wan Chang asked â€Å"in that case who gave the Empire to Shun? † and Mencius said, â€Å" Heaven gave it to him. † Wang Chang believed that Heaven gave Shun the Empire. He had that point of view because of what Mencius had told him about the Mandate of Heaven. In â€Å"Government in Athens† (5) It discusses how the Athenian Golden Age was inspired by the development of democracy by the Athenians. â€Å"In the most precise and literal sense Athenians governed themselves† there wasn't a King or an almighty ruler. Generals were elected from the Assembly and served for a year's term† On t he contrary, â€Å"A remarkably Successful Kind of Government†(7) discusses how the Emperor appoints governors to each district. This type of government was effective because the central government was further enhanced by delegation of different areas. â€Å"The Chinese empire was indeed the largest political system in the classical world. † A document that would have been nice to read about would be a document with citizens from both Athens and Han, and their perspective and outlook on their form of government .Another difference Athens and Han China both had were population. Document 1 shares the characteristic of population with documents 2 & 3. In document one it shows two maps, one of Athens, and one of the Han Empire. These maps are a biased point of view though because it has the Han Empire map enlarged so it makes the map of Athens look smaller, but also on the map of Athens in the bottom corner it has an enlarged box of Attica. This document is not resourceful if you wanted to compare the size of Athens and Han because the maps are two different sides. It would have been helpful to have the maps the same size, also they could have showed the populations in the areas and where most people lived and where they traveled. â€Å"Athens population distribution† (2) This document shows the total population of Attica which is 315,000 . It also shows how many people were in each class, the class that had the most people were the slaves with 115,00. â€Å"Han China : population distribution†(3) This document shows the total population in Han China, 65,000,000 . Clearly Athens and Han differed in there size and population. Also in this document it shows how many people were in each class. The class with the most people is, Peasant farmers/urban workers with 58,500,000 people. Culture/ Religion is another difference Athens and Han China had. Document 8 shares the characteristic of Culture/Religion just like documents 9,10,11 &12. â€Å" what is a good citizen†(8) This shows Athenian culture and what they had believed is a good citizen. This document discusses how each individual isn't just interested in his own problems or his own self, but he's also interested in the state and it's affairs. While in document 10 â€Å"Confucius on the Individual and the State† This document is showing culture because the people of the Han China culture believed what Confucius taught and said. In this document Confucius said that fathers are to cover up for their sons and sons to cover up for their fathers. What would have made this document more relevant to Han China's culture would be facts on how Confucius culturally and religiously influenced Han China and it’s peoples to believe his teachings. â€Å"Dialogue of Socrates and Crito in Prison†(9) This document is about Crito trying to get Socrates to escape from prison.Socrates was thrown into prison because he was charged for not believing in the gods th at everyone believed, introducing other gods, and corrupting the youth. This shows culture because that's what people did if you did not believe in the same Gods they believed in. Socrates did not believe or listen to Crito, he had that point of view because nothing would convince him other wise of what he thought, â€Å" I know that anything more, which you may say, will not convince me† – Socrates. Document 11†Discus Thrower† is a painting of an Athenian man throwing a discuss, the cultural style of art differed from Han China's style of art. Ch' iu Ying Landscape (12) differed from document 11. This is a painting of a landscape, while document 11 was a portrait. What would have been better to help further contrast these different cultures styles of art would be more documents of Han & Athens’s artworks. In closing, Han China and Athens Greece had there differences in three categories, but there are more differences then just those three. For examp le, everyday life for the citizens. Although Han China and Athens Greece were two major empires that both ruled around the same time frame. They had there differences such as population, government, and religion/culture.

Outsourcing In Business Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Outsourcing In Business - Research Paper Example The professional services industry, consisting of accountants, lawyers, advertisers, consultants, and the like is based on the concept of outsourcing. Even works such as cleaning, food services, and mailrooms are outsourced. Outsourcing through call centers have become the order of the day. In recent times, organizations have started outsourcing active back-office jobs, performing work as diversified as customer order processing, payroll, accounts receivables, and amounts payable through outside specialists. In fact, in the modern world, it would be difficult to find any organization that is doing every part of its operations by itself. Through outsourcing, companies try to cut down the operational costs of the product in order to bring down the operation cost. At the same time, outsourcing is resorted to bringing about more product innovation and efficiency in the service offerings to the customers. In fact, there are huge incentives to outsource. Outsourcing can reduce costs by almost 50-60%. There are huge opportunities for the companies to outsource. According to a report by IBM, the leading consulting firm, almost 50% of the $19 trillion expended by European firms on sales and administration could be gainfully outsourced. The report has further added that merely 8% had started outsourcing by early 2005. Peter Drucker, the legendary management consultant and self-proclaimed ‘social ecologist’ observe, â€Å"Do what you do best and outsource the rest.† The idea of finding people who can do something better, faster and cheaper than other dates back to the theory propounded by the classical econ omist Adam Smith.

What is the Keynesian explanation for why the economy is currently Essay

What is the Keynesian explanation for why the economy is currently growing slower than normal - Essay Example The interest rates being charged by the lending institutions increase superficially, consequently crowding out private investment, and reducing the economic growth in the future (Ireland, 38). This makes an economic recession to become inevitable within the system, and during this period the economic growth remains slow. While monetary policies to reduce the interest rate might be implemented, this only creates an income effect and does not guarantee increased consumption. As a result, the recession might last longer than anticipated. The economy has undergone through a period of recession, and there is need to implement a fiscal policy aimed at changing the condition. This, however, required immediate action and the government was slow in responding to the need for a fiscal policy to end the recession (Kaboub, 84). The fiscal policies required to ensure an effective stimulus for economic growth should be focused on infrastructure development and job creation within the economy. The government policies have however been focused too much towards tax cuts which have resulted in a stimulus package that can be described as too small to end the recession, hence the slow recovery. Kaboub, Fadhel. â€Å"Understanding and Preventing Financial Instability: Post-Keynesian Institutionalism and Government as Employer of Last Resort.† Financial Instability and Economic Security after the Great Recession. Analyse article Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1

Analyse article - Essay Example Schaper further argues that in a competitive market environment effective and efficient firms survive while the inefficient businesses collapse. Considering the remarks by the president of Toyota Company, the business may have faced serious competition from other vehicle manufacturers in Australia such as Elfin Sports Cars Pty Ltd, Ford Performance Vehicles, and GM Holden Ltd as well as competition in the export markets of other countries that offer favorable vehicle manufacturing conditions. Another factor that contributed to the decision by Toyota Company is high cost of production attributed to the high labor costs (BBC News Business 10 February 2014). Under normal circumstances, the cost of production in an organization is usually lower giving enough room for profit realization when products are sold. However, the Toyota Company based in Australia experienced reduction in profits and eventually loses in the production of vehicles due to the increased production cost. The company tried to solve the problem of increased labor costs through proposed changes in employee contracts that would have resulted in removal of additional allowances and changes in overtime (BBC News Business 10 February 2014) but the implementation was blocked in a Federal Court. The other critical factor that contributed to the decision by Toyota Company is lack of government support. According to Ch et al., government policies have both positive and negative impacts on businesses operating in the country in question (2011, p.941). In the case of Toyota Company, the impacts of policy changes by Australian government left the company with negative business effects. To begin with, a national commission recommended to the government that subsidies that were initially given to the car manufacturing industry should be stopped and that the companies should device ways of cutting down the production cost (BBC News Business 10 February 2014). Secondly, the proposed changes on employee

Long-Term Isolation in Prison Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words

Long-Term Isolation in Prison - Essay Example In fact, because those who impose the torture, prison officials, correction officers, and the lawyers who defend them in court, do not discuss it in any meaningful way. They do not release statistics about how many prisoners are kept isolated from the rest of the prison population, and they appeal any verdicts that say that solitary confinement is cruel and unusual punishment. Yet, how something that can cause the same amount of physical damage as being hit in the head hard enough to change one’s brain function, like as little as two weeks of solitary confinement does, can be called anything but torture is beyond reason to most people. This widespread and uniquely cruel form of torture goes by several different names. Among them are solitary confinement, segregation or â€Å"SAMs† (i.e. Special Administrative Measures) established â€Å"in 1996 for gang leaders and other crime bosses with demonstrated reach in cases of ‘substantial risk that an inmate's communica tion or contacts with persons could result in death or serious bodily injury to persons’" (Theoharis). Perhaps no one speaks of solitary confinement in terms of inhumane torture because they believe it is used just for the worst of the worst, the gang leaders and crime bosses, and since September 11, 2001, terrorists. Cool Hand Luke was thrown in â€Å"the hole† for defying the prison camp’s rules, and most people’s concept of solitary confinement matches what was portrayed in that movie and others like it. Most people believe solitary confinement is a place for inmates who violate prison rules. And, to be fair, it is. There are not a lot of freedoms to restrict or privileges to take away from a prisoner who has already had most of his/her rights removed through incarceration. Maybe though it is just easier not to think of such things. After all, if one is not a criminal, one never has to worry about spending 23 hours a day in a cinder block cell with no television, radio, or newspapers. Not even a deck of playing cards are allowed. Books are and usually, inmates in solitary confinement can write letters to one family member once a week, although the rules on that vary. Some inmates in segregated units—another more sterile name for solitary confinement—can have visitors; some cannot. They can leave their cell for one hour a day to exercise or shower, and all that activity is watched by guards via monitoring devices. These are not conditions most people see as humane even for criminals convicted of heinous crimes, but what should be done with prisoners who cannot get along with other prisoners, who incite violence or are caught with contraband in their cells? Solitary confinement seems like the only alternative. That is why it is surprising to some to learn that many prisoners kept in segregation are not violent, have not broken any rules, and are not being punished per se. Miki Ann DiMarco, a transsexual female incarce rated before the transformational surgeries were completed spent fourteen months in protective segregation in Wyoming Women’s Center. Because DiMarco still had some male genitalia, prison officials thought it best to keep her out of the general prison population for fear that she would be harassed.

Competitive Forces and Strategic Issues in the Smartphone & Tablet Assignment

Competitive Forces and Strategic Issues in the Smartphone & Tablet Industry. Apple Inc - Assignment Example According to Utterback and Abernathy (1975) such a shift in a company’s strategic focus can be a major challenge but also have important competitive benefits. The challenge arises for example from the need of organizational restructuring and acquiring new capabilities to enable a successful transition from products to processes. The important benefits in this case were that the change in strategic shift allowed the organization to take advantage of the effects of the technological discontinuities to the industry. The emergence of the mobile Web and related technologies initiated a new technology cycle that shifted the consumer electronics industry towards smartphones and tablets. These gadgets have consolidated functions that previously required use of multiple devices such as cameras, music players, video players, computers and telephones into a single device. Industry lifecycle theory has long postulated that industries evolve through distinct phases and that each phase is associated with different basis of competition at the firm level. In the traditional industry lifecycle model the basis of competitive strategy changes from product innovation to process improvement as the industry evolves (Utterback & Abernathy 1975). However, in the enhanced model, Cusumano et al. (2006) proposed service as an important component of this shift in strategy as the industry evolves. ... Communication & Cultural Studies Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Communication & Cultural Studies - Essay Example The Mexican people identify with their culture and every work that seems to acknowledge this fact is appreciated by everyone in the country. Diego Rivera had this in mind when doing his painting because it captures the attention citizens in respect to the cultural aspect. This paper under the guidance of Stuart Hall focuses on the cultural identity of the Mexican people and their nationalism as is reflected in Zapatista’s landscape painting. The paper also analyses the effects and operations of other aspects such as racism, and sexuality. The researcher also seeks to understand why the Mexican people appreciate their culture using works in reference to different cultural theories. Diego Rivera’s Zapatista’s Landscape panting symbolically translates the cultural identity of the Mexican people in form of a visual image. Diego uses images as a representational system that embarks on using sings and symbols to bring out meaning of what is happening during the post-revolutionary period in Mexico, the best way for people to understand and reflect. As we shall later see, these symbols give the Mexican people a sense of identity. The representations manifested by the painting are cultural products which are created within the contemporary Mexican society during the post-revolutionary period. The painting contains background information that helps provide insight about the complexity of the situation in Mexico. This instills the Mexican people of the need to uphold their nationalism and remain united to face the challenges the strike them. This painting serves to create awareness among the Mexican people and also enhance curiosity concerning the themes that the artist wants to communicate with his fellow countrymen. Diego Rivera clearly communicated his message to the people through his art works and creates the desire

19th Century America Essay Example for Free

19th Century America Essay Social Studies Essay Throughout the 19th century, America was a rapidly growing country. It was full of new inventions, new ideas, economic and social development, and new ways of thinking. But, most of these came from the North. The North and the South had many differences and many similarities. The North and South had many differences. One difference is that South’s economy relied on slaves more than the North. Almost all the Northern states immediately or gradually abolished slavery after the Revolutionary War. Another economic difference is that the South’s economy was based on â€Å"cash crops†. â€Å"Cash crops† include rice, tobacco, indigo, and cotton. The South had many plantations to support its farming economy. The North had many small farms as well as larger towns and cities. The North relied more on factory work. In the North, railroads and canals connected the states, allowing for greater economic development. The South’s social development was also very much different from the North’s. For example, in the South, the wealthy plantation owners and the slave owners were at the top. They supported their plantations with slavery. In the North, the upper class was made up of mostly city people who owned factories. Many of the factory workers were European immigrants. One example of a similarity is the class structure. They both had a very small upper class, a small middle class, and a large lower class. Another example is that the white men had all the power, and slaves and women didn’t have equal rights with the white men. In terms of economic similarities, farming was an important part of the economy in both the North and the South. These two regions obviously had many differences. In many ways, this strengthened the nation. The North’s factories processed the South’s crops, which tied the nation together. Also, having male dominance and having women and African Americans with no equal rights kept the nation together. But, these differences also created conflicts, which threatened the nation. The North wanted to abolish slavery for good, but the South needed slavery for crops, such as cotton. Because of this conflict, the Civil War would start later on. Overall, both regions’ differences threatened the nation. When the cotton gin was invented, this caused further conflict. It gave the South more reasons to keep slavery. Another conflict was the difference in wealth between the North and the South. The North had a more developed economy with canals, railroads, and factories. The South continued to rely on agriculture as its main component of the economy, requiring them to import manufactured goods. In conclusion, the North and the South were, overall, very different, but with some similarities. These differences strengthened the nation in a few ways and threatened the nation in many ways. The differences in social and economic structure led to the Civil War.

What Is Animal Abuse?

What Is Animal Abuse? What is animal abuse. Animal abuse is a behavior that harming animals for other purposes and reasons other than self-protection and survival. This kind of cases is increasing year by year throughout the world every year. There are several factors that contribute to this cruel act. One of the factors that led to animal abuse is neglect. Nowadays, many people want to keep a pet just because the animals are cute. People see those cute animals such as puppy, kitten and rabbit through mass media. The mass media include advertisements and some TV shows. After they saw those cute and adorable animals they want to keep it as pet, so they go to the pet shop to buy. They never think twice before they bring those animals back to their home. They never think that they dont have time to take care their pets. This will causes harms to their pets. In this 21st century most of the peoples and families are busy with their work, and they dont have time feed and play with their pets. When their pet is sick, they dont even notice and do not have time to bring their pet to the veterinarians. As a result, this will lead to animal cruelty. Besides that, some of the TV shows and game shows also will lead to animal abuses. Some of the game shows will use animal as their selling point to attract viewers in order to boost up their viewership rating for the particular shows. Some of game shows even torture and hurt the animals in order to get good ratings for the show. For example, an American game show known as Fear Factor often uses animal to in their shows as a challenge to their game shows participants. In one of the episodes, the participants are required to use their mouth to move the snakes from one box to another box. This action will cause harm to the snakes and this is a very foolish and very unethical action done by human being. Another factor that will lead to animal abuse or animal cruelty is the science research. In this century, science is very important for human being. Science is important to human beings in term of medications, technologies and others. In order to make humans life easier a lots of researches and experiments need to be carry out. Some of these experiments will involve animals. For example, in order to produce or invent new medicines animal will be the first one who test the drugs for the side effects. Besides, for education purpose in school or university, students are required to dissect animals such as rats and frogs in biology class in order to understand more about the system and facts about those animals. Animal abuse happens in this case indirectly. In additions, stress and anger will is also one of the factors that will contribute to animal abuse. This phenomenon happens when someone got too stress from his work or studies and they have no way to release it, they will release it on their pets. Those people will torture their pets by not feeding their pet or even uses brutal strength such ass kick and hit their pets. Anger will also cause animal cruelty happens. When some weak people such as students got bullied and humiliate at school and they have no strength or power to protect and defend them self, they will get their revenge on animals by torturing them. They do this because they think those small animals like puppies and kittens are small and defenseless against them. Another factor that will lead to animal abuse is the psychological factor. Some people out there have psychology and mental problem. They want the power to control people and dominate people, but they are not capable enough. So, they try to dominate the animals and control the animals by giving order and punishment as they want. Another type of psychology problem some people like to see animal being torture or they personally like to torture animal themselves for personal satisfaction. This is a kind of disease or mental disorder. People with this kind of mental disorder are mostly having trauma during their childhood time. These people are most likely being abuse by their parents or being bullied in school time. These people need medication to control their condition or else they will get worse. Another psychology problem that led to animal cruelty is the people who bully the animal to seek for public attention. These people are those who are commonly neglect by the society. They fe el that they do not existence in the society and they feel that they are ignored. So they want to do something to let the public know about their existence. Some of these people will abuse and torture the animals to prove their existence in the society. Some of the parents will buy pets to accompany their children. Parents nowadays are busy with their works and do not have time to play with their children. So they buy a pet for them to accompany them to play with them and make them happy. But they never thought that their children do not how to take care the animals. Sometimes is not they want to abuse the animals, but the will they treat the animals like feeding them too much will indirectly causes harm to the animals. Another factor that will contribute to animal abuse is culture. Some of the culture will contribute to animal abuse. Those cultures are like a traditional festival for them and they must carry it out. For example Spains bulls fight festival. This festival is a very cruel and unethical festival. This festival is actually a festival that kills a bull to entertain audiences. Besides that, some of the people will even kill those animals just for the skin of the animal. For example, human being kills those snakes, crocodiles and bulls just for their skin to make wallets and handbags. Besides that, some human will also kill the animal for gaining personal profit. Shark fin is a very good example of animal cruelty. In order to get the shark fin, they will just cut off the fin of the shark and throw them back into the sea. The shark without the fin will hardly swim and eventually the sharks will die in the sea. Another example of this point is eating puppy or dogs. In China, they will slaughter the dogs and puppy in their shop and cook it for the customers. Eating dog is an unethical behavior to do. In addition, animal training may also lead to animal abuse. To train an animal to obey to a command is not an easy task or more precise is a very hard task. All animals are different. Some of the people may eventually hurt the animal without noticing when they are training the animals. Some of the training needs punishment to let the animals know or remember the move the people teach them. For example, in a circus, animal such as tiger, lion, and elephant need training before they can perform in front of the audience, during the training the people may hurt them without noticing because animals cant express themselves well. http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/animal_cruelty/why.php http://voices.yahoo.com/animal-abuse-leading-causes-stop-it-6289042.html?cat=48 http://www.nhes.org/sections/view/330 http://tcr.sagepub.com/content/2/2/177.abstract http://www.sunbearsquad.org/risks.shtml

Organism Adaptions over Time

Organism Adaptions over Time An adaptation is a feature that is very commonly seen in a specific population because it provides some improved functionality. Adaptations are well suited to their pertaining function and are made by natural selection. Evolution is the actual process of when some organisms change their form over a long period of time to adapt to certain environment that they live in, to be able to defend themselves against other animals like predators, to camouflage or sometimes for no scientifically explained reason. This essay will be discussing specific organisms on Earth that have evolved to be able to adapt to their living conditions and how and why their changes had happened. The first organism that is going to be discussed is the actually the Polar Bear. This is more of a basic example of what evolution is like and has a really valid and scientifically proven reason. The Polar bear had originated from the Brown bear. This happened when some Brown bears were separated from their pack when traveling and they had to adapt to the cold environment they were left in. Eventually the weaker ones had died and the stronger bears learn to adapt to their environment and eventually their fur would turn white. The whiteness in their fur would help with them camouflaging in the snow and ice that surrounded them to protect and hide them from predators and and keep them warm from the freezing temperatures. The second organism that will be discussed is actual the whole species of the whale. The whale has undergone major changes and phases of evolution. The original ancestors of whales are actually terrestrial animals. Scientists believe that whales evolved from animals like wolves which as we all know, were land animals who walked on all fours. The reason behind this change is due to changing land masses overtime. The textures and risings and fall of the lands on Earth due to earthquakes is what caused this change for wolves to develop fins and flippers and eventually turn into whales, of course taking many lifetimes for this to happen. Another organism on planet Earth that has undergone evolution is actually the cactus. I will be discussing how once leafy and normal plants became a cactus. It is known that actually the Pereskia, a genus which contained seventeen species of leafy shrubs and trees is where the first known sights of cactus development began and how plants made this change to adjust to the dry environment that some of them lived in. Since it was so dry and rain ever hardly made its way to the plants they began to change their structure to be able to contain water within them to drink off of and survive. This is a really good example of an organism evolving because it shows the cause and effect of how and why it made its change and the pricks on the outer side of the cactus to also protect it from other animals that may want to feed of the cactus such as birds, lizards and insects. The fourth example of an organism on Earth developing its evolution for adaption is the lizard known as the skink. This animal actually, within its embryo within its egg has somehow learned to give itself another layer of calcium on its body. This was done by the minerals within the sand that it was surrounded by in the beaches it used to and still thrives in. This was done so once hatched it would be able to get used to its sandy environment and be able to use this calcium to gain the vitamins and nutrients it needs as ian infant to survive. The skink still remains as a really thriving species of lizard in modern day and this is because of the calcium it hadÂÂ   absorbed when it was young. The fifth and final example of an evolution taking place for the sole purpose of adaptation of an organism that is actually currently evolving as speak and this organism is known as. As we all know climate change is currently upon us and the Tawny Owl from Finland is what I am talking about. This owl is actually varying in colors. There are three different types of colors for this owl, brown and pale grey. The pale grey owls have learned to survive within the winter time because they can easily blend in with some of the snow sides of their habitat but as for the browner owls they had a hard time with this. But thanks to climate change, survival is on their side, the species has been evolving itself and more specifically, the grey owls have been dying. The brown owls can now blend into anything brown, which is a common color of branches that are visible on hotter days. Survival of the fittest is what was called for and the brown Tawny owl is the definition of that. All five examples are provided with cause of adaption and an extra introduction which was not required was provided to provide a general and more clear idea of what will be discussed.

With reference to Dulce et Decorum Est and Anthem for Doomed Youth by E

With reference to Dulce et Decorum Est and Anthem for Doomed Youth by Wilfred Owen, examine how Wilfred Owen responded to the jingoistic poetryof Jessie Pope. " Who's for the game? The biggest that's played" ================================================ The above quotation is from Jessie Pope's "who's for the game." Wilfred Owen was born in Shropshire on the 18th of March 1893. Owen volunteered for the army in 1914 when the First World War broke out. After training he became an officer and was sent to France at the end of 1916. The following year, Owen took part in the attacks on the German Hindenburg line, where he was suffering from shell shock after a shell burst near him. The horrors of battle quickly transformed Owen and the way he thought about life. The reasons behind Wilfred Owen's poems were to indoctrinate the people of those times. "Dulce et Decorum Est" was to enable Owen to show the true meanings of war and to over right the untruthful poem of Jessie Pope and her propaganda technics. ====================================================================== Jessie Pope's poem " Who's For The Game?" ========================================= There are sporting references such as "Who'll toe the line," "Who'll grip and tackle the job unafraid." Also there are parts of the poem that incur guilt upon the men who hadn't enlisted. "Who wants a turn to himself in the show," "And who wants a seat in the stand?" and "Who thinks he'd rather sit tight?" this technique makes the reader feel responsible and pushes them to join up and be a part of 'the game'. The rhythm of the poem gives an impression of a rhyme, like something you could sing to, this is a strange way to write about the solemn ... ...arison is that of dusk, to the drawing down of blinds in a house in mourning. "And each slow dusk a drawing down of blinds," creating the image that dusk is like a blind that is being lowered. The funeral is over and rhetorical question that Owen asked at the beginning of the first stanza has been answered and the noise has vanished. All is now quiet. The long, heav 'd' sounds really drag the ending on and draw the poem to a deliberate close. In conclusion, I feel that both poets are effective, but they both present such different pictures of war. Owen's poems are excellent examples of poetry portraying the realism of war, whereas Pope's poem is an excellent example of the unfortunate attitude cultivated on the home front. The contrast between the two allows the reader to see the reality of the First World War from two immensely different perspectives.

American Democracy Essay -- Government Politics US Essays Political Sc

American Democracy The American democracy is one of the most peaceful kinds of government in the world although it is a long way from utopia. The democracy in which we live has many strengths and weaknesses. Neither strengths or weaknesses out weigh one another, but it is necessary to have both due to the varying definitions. A democracy is a government that is run by the people. The politicians that we elect to run our government are human and they are susceptible to mistakes based on their own strengths and weaknesses. The strengths and weaknesses they possess are reflected into our government but at least â€Å"we the people† elect them and they are not chosen for us. We live in a representative democracy that means â€Å"we the people† are given the right to elect those who represent our beliefs and values. The political campaigns of the politicians allows us the freedom of who to elect by selling us their views on how they feel our government should function. Many of the campaigns seem to dispute the candidate running against the other(s) but it normally ties into what they believe is wrong. Sometimes a candidate's campaign will run according to one of the candidates mistakes that they have made in office or in life. The candidate may then promise they would never make a mistake of that sort. The campaigns now days tend to be more on the negative side but negativity sells in this country. While positive campaigns reflect more on the positive goals of the campaignee it ...

A Look Into: A Re-Vision of Teaching :: Free Essays Online

A Look Into: A Re-Vision of Teaching Reflection is an important part of the writing process. By looking closely at the method that I used in order to arrive at my finished piece, A Re-Vision of Teaching, I am able to think about the individual steps that I took and to evaluate the effectiveness of my process. My writing began in the first week of October when I received the essay #2 assignment, which posed many questions about art. In addition to describing a piece of artwork, the assignment called for students to use personal experience, and it also asked for students to go beyond opinions to make arguments about a work of art that is interesting to others. Taking these requirements into consideration, I decided that I wanted to write about something that was significant to my life and relevant to what I am studying≠ teaching. Then, I narrowed this topic down by choosing one experience that would serve as my individual piece of art, the lesson I taught on Adrienne Rich. I did not know what assert ion I wanted to make, so I decided to work with this writing assignment in a few different ways. First, I took action. To begin thinking about the assignment, I read through the sample essays on art. I subsequently brainstormed different ideas that I wanted to discuss in my piece. I created a list of some universal concepts that are involved in the creation of all pieces of art including: commission, creativity/ inspiration, tools, and critiques. I also thought about the way that art inspires more art. Not all of my initial ideas made it into the final paper, but this list-making technique was very helpful for me. In addition to making this master list, I also thought back to the actual lesson that I wanted to describe, the Adrienne Rich/ feminism lesson. I wrote down all observations that I remembered from the lesson itself, and critiques that IÏ€ve heard/ developed myself. My biggest critique was that I did not encourage student participation or discussion. As I continued to think about this paper and heard that two students had used Rich in their papers o n education, I realized what I wanted my assertion to be.

Evolution of Women’s Rights Since 19th Century

par Rights 1 The Evolution of the Extension of comparability Rights from guileless to Modern Liberalism Malak Alkadri Social Studies 30 Mrs. Kadaoui November 30, 2012 Equality Rights 2 Towards the latter part of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century, classic liberalism underwent big modifications in terms of stirity beneficials. Its circumscribed form even came to be cognise as modern or tyrannical liberalism. It differed from authorized liberalism in so outlying(prenominal) as it emphasized the signifi loaferce and reasonableness of equal opportunities and justice.Modern liberalism has promoted the positive rather than the negatively charged aspects of the liberation move be put on forcet. The extension of wo mens equating rights of the net step in the innovation of classical liberalism to modern liberalism has all-encompassing this circumstance groups rights scotch eithery, socially and governmentally to an utter some extent. Initially, wo mens lives have meliorate frugalally. Modern liberalism has come to interpret immunity as involving a right to primary requirements of the development and security necessary to interpret the equal opportunity and personal gravitas of women.Nevertheless, in the nineteenth centurys Victorian era, the emergence of womens rights was limited. feminism had influenced the ideology of separate spheres in which men inhabit the overt sphere the populace of politics, commerce and righteousness and women inhabit the private realm of domestic life barbarian caring, housekeeping and so on (Christison, etal. 2009, p. 158). Women of all classes worked hard, yet, were still a supply of threepenny labour. Whereas today, much women argon employed, more girls ar being educated, women are living long-range and having fewer shaverren, and the number of females in chore and in politics has increased dramatically.According to the relate for Womens Business Research, female entreprene urs generate $2. 3 trillion to the Equality Rights 3 American economy and employ more than 18 million people (qtd. Also, womens economic rights and acceptance have evolved dramatically since the final developing of equality rights in the classical liberalism. Women have outright acquired the granting immunity to work as they please, with rather no restrictions and a lot less government involvement. Womens economic authority has severely improved in the modern setting as contradictory to thirty years ago, when women were first ledger entry the workplace. It was a rare occurrence, and rather curious at that time to captivate women at work, and now it is or sothing common, accepted, and even encouraged. Surely, on a social level, womens rights have contumaciously evolved in the way people meet and treat women. There has been a joint change of consciousness in how men are expected by law to communicate with women in the workplace. While some personal Equality Rights 4 attitudes powerfulness not have changed men and women two understand that the workplace is to be a setting to be free of ruinous and insensitive comments.Additionally, women have successfully fought for family word of farewell rights. Afterwards, the occurrence of the Family and Medical Leave fare had emerged in the US by national law in 1993 (qtd. in en. wikipedi. org). The defend is more prevalent now than it was stick out then. However, focusing on the cases of the United States and England, we lay down that the historical expansion of womens rights withal unfolded through equal treatment in the labour market. In contrast, in most African countries women gained formal political rights, at the end of colonialism before receiving economic rights. Moreover, in that respect are many specific traditions such(prenominal)(prenominal) as foot binding and child marriage, which impact the rights of women that are specific to sure cultures. Contemporary phenomena, such as human immunodeficiency virus/AIDS also represent challenges to sexual practice equality that were not present in earlier time periods (Kristof and WuDunn 2009). Likewise, womens political rights have also been extended now than ever before. You may agree that the nigh(a) end of the classical period is equivalent to modern liberalism because people with disabilities, prison inmates, women cardinal year of age and fourth-year, and nationsEquality Rights 5 such as the Inuit without surrendering their culture were allowed to vote hence, thither has not been much change in the political rights of women. I beg and plead to differ. Thirty years ago, all types of women 18 and older may have been apt(p) the right to vote hardly thats as far as it went. Now, women are CEOs and presidential candidates. Hillary Clinton for example, serves as an American monument of the United States. Women are now not only given the right to vote, but the right to be voted for. Currently, US citizens can vote in the US elections.Yet, spinal column when the country was founded in most states, only men with real property or substantial wealth were permitted to vote. Almost all women and their votes were denied at the time. Now, since the US constitution, every item-by-item has gained the right to vote. Although, in the 1920s, the Womens way of the Department of Labour is formed to assimilate information about w omen in the work force and safeguard good working conditions for women (Ann-Marie Imbornoni. 2009). You may say that the workforce now-a-days also provides a great source of security and freedom for women similar to the nineteenth century. Not necessarily. The freedom of women in the workforce has also been extended. President Baraak Obama, for instance, sign the Lily Ledbetter Fair render Restoration Act, which allows victims of pay discrimination to turn on a complaint to the government against their employer at bottom 180 days of their last pay check. Previously, victims (most often women) are now allowed to deed of conveyance an unjust pay check whereas Equality Rights 6 back in the 19th century, their freedoms were under more authority than they are in the modern society (Ann-Marie Imbornoni. 009) Finally, the evolution of the equality rights of women has extremely extended since classical liberalism in the 19th century. The rights of women have extended in several different aspects oddly in terms of economical, social and political rights. Men and women are now equal in regards to occupations, elections, education, job pay checks, security, and collaboration. notwithstanding the amount of freedom women have gained, it is no longer a shock to see a women play what was then called a mans role in society. Women have the right to not only vote but run for candidates as well.Young women today are not apply to occupy the domestic part of life, or jobs that were traditionally reserved for them. Millions of women today succeeded in professions that were completely prohibited to them in the past, such as working in open, public areas. Womens economic rights and acceptance have evolved dramatically since the final evolution of equality rights in the classical liberalism. Moreover, if you are not honest, accountable and veritable person you leave aloneing not arouse state who go forth follow you. So, if your co-workers and followers do not self- confidence you, it is unfeasible to be a leader. It is very authorized for the tribe who provide follow you to be true that they go off deposit on you and that you keep your promises. Also, the advantageously leader should be dedicated towards his or her duty because it shows that you know responsibility. However, a swell leader too must tag the community and followers whom he give notice trust in graze not to be veritable that his followers will eternally apply him during attaining the goals. conversation dear converse skills aid the leader to send in timately and to packet ideas or mass meeting with opinions with his followers. Also, it is Copernican to dip misconstrue in an physical composition because well-educated what you thirst to be apply exponent see absolute in your head, but if you turn out to light up it to somebody else and it may be get the calculate in a distinct way which may cause to a paradox. So, be undefended to compactly and understandably describe what you want to be unadulterated is vitally meaty. Besides, a leader should possess this trait to pass around with his customer with various backgrounds. mickle creation a great leader also includes possessing and create lot. It doer having vision to bode the prox(a) as if it were already here. A bright modelling can be Steve Job, who very much performed this. He created a honest picture in minds of community how a new turnout would alter the world before even it was launched. He had talents to make earth emotional closely the future which he imagined in his mind. Good leaders must bankrupt the talent of vision in them as well as in followers to gain ground them to be come apart in those skills which they possess. It assistances to accuse innovations and attain common goals. unconditional stanceA profound leader should devote a supportive thought process and bearing in crop to stimulate confidence and acquire inner strength. It is essential to remember, that convinced(p) and root leader is a good pillow slip for his followers to sapidity the same. Besides, a great leader must affect his followers and mess around. If your followers liveliness ecstasy and are motivated, in that respect are more chances to reach the best consummations and travel ahead. Also, a good leader must be exposed to put to work line of work and baffle the tooth root to every problem which he encounters in life and not subjugate it. And, it is unremarkably easier to find effect to the problem when y ou are calm, positive and have positive mind-set. re primary(prenominal)derBy way of conclusion, it can be marked that world a leader is more complicated than many plurality expect it. be leader requires many efforts, breathed work and a mess of affirmative traits which coney analyzable to attain. With imagine to followers, it is easier to be a follower quite an than being a leader. up to now though, followers and leaders carry on similar qualities, not every good follower can become a good leader because at that place are many differences as well. unmatched of the main differences in the midst of them is responsibility. leading defy to be amenable not only for their actions, but, as well as they must be responsible for deeds of their followers. Furthermore, leaders are braver, productive and more fain to risk. volume who afflict to keep down challenges are better to be followers than being a leader of a root of bulk. I work out every leader must invariab ly learn in order to be very pain and strain to obtain more familiarity and experience in different kind of spheres. But, the main task of leaders to help people to achieve common goals and direct his followers.
